Walking in Oxford is slow..

Today, Shardit starts her new part-time job. I think I can safely say that we are both fairly excited. It’s at a shop called Shirt works in Cowley, Oxford.

This blog story starts when I left Sian just outside the shop to start her first shift. I had to walk into Oxford to get some stuff and do a little banking. Here is the route, which should have been a short, painless walk, in to Oxford.

However, I have never experienced such slow walking in my life. People we’re taking their time, looking at what i would consider pointless things, not to mention taking up the entire pavement. Families insisting on have their picture take on the busiest roads in Oxford, with a no-so-creative photographer.

I normally walk at a moderate speed, but i was so enfuriated at this point, I turned into Terminator and power-walked all the way into town. All I wanted to do was upgrade my Nationwide Smart-card to a current account but even that turned into a small job.

Never again, if I can avoid it, will I walk around Oxford on a Saturday.

This mornings jobs are done

Well, i’ve finally finished a completely working version of my girlfriends website, as mentioned in my previous post. The next job on the list is to finish a small website for Kate, KateAtCherish, just a few text changes left as well as an admin. After that, it will be URLFairy, specifically the api system which i’m quite looking forward to sinking my teeth into and getting it out the way.

I’ve also got to start again on my dad’s website, Hamel.org. He requires a family tree website, but all the available packages out there a pretty crappy. I gave it a go before but struggled on building an efficient way of linking all the records together. This time though, it should be easier.

I’ve recently got into working with classes, memcached and very large PHP arrays/objects, so with that in mind, i can hopefully design a better frame work.

My first ever blog post :D

This is quite an exciting adventure having my own blog. A few of my work colleges have their own personal blogs so i thought i would jump on the band wagon, it actually feels pretty awesome being able to publish my own stuff.

So, who am I?

Well, my name is Joe (Joseph actually). I’m a 19 year old junior programmer at a well known UK website. I do enjoy programming, as well as exercise, music, my friends and of course pubs. I obviously can’t forget about my girlfriend, Sian, who I adore above anyone else.

What to exspect from this blog?

well, I have a bad habit of thinking of an idea, build it, publish it but never monitize it. I have a few websites, most of which are under development as my quality of work has gone up, and the old stuff needs replacing.
